YWAM Boston is pioneering a new ministry to university students. Jihoon (Peter) and Ji Hye (Jane) Park joined our staff in March 2010 and are working with a team to establish outreach to the universities. Eventually, we plan for a UDTS (University Discipleship Training School) to be a part of our ministry here in Boston.
Jeong Ho (Ryan) Cho and Pil Young (Emily) Kim are the other members of this campus ministry team.
We learned and ministered with YWAM Campus Ministry in Korea for the last 7 years, and saw how powerful and effective this ministry is. We ourselves are products of YWAM. We met Jesus and devoted ourselves to God's Kingdom through this ministry.
In August 2008, God told us to go to Boston and pioneer YWAM Campus Ministry in Boston. We never imagined we'd come to the US as missionaries. We encountered many obstacles on the way, but God's call was so clear and strong, and we finally came here.
About 120 years ago a great revival called SVM (Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions) happened on college campuses in the United States, starting from Boston. As a result of this movement about 100,000 college students devoted themselves to missions and over 20,000 of them went to the Nations as full-time missionaries. Among them were the first missionaries to Korea.
Through our ministry we want to evangelize and disciple the international students in Boston who are reserved leaders in their home country. We will have worship and intercession meetings on each college campus and teach and train the students as disciples of Jesus. We also will start a special DTS for college students called University DTS. In University DTS students will find God's purpose in their study and be equipped to affect nations and societies.
We believe that if we change one student here he will change his whole country. And we do believe God wants to bring another revival in colleges in Boston. Please pray for our ministry.
