What is Encounter?

The Encounter communicates Jesus in a fresh and compelling way.    It tells God’s story, from Eden to the Cross, culminating with an intimate time of worship.  We seek to open a door into God’s presence, leading the way into relationship with Him.   It is a new altar call.  .  It is a chance for people who don’t know Jesus yet to experience the reality of “God with us.”

“Igniting Passion for Jesus in New England and Beyond!”

The day after Easter, Newsweek had a cover story “The End of Christian America.”  It talked about the decline of the church in our nation and what that looks like for our future.  In some ways, that is an accurate analysis of our religious institutions.  But not of the Church!  The coals are still hot in spite of all that comes against us.  These coals can be fanned into a flame again!  The Lord was very specific about our calling here.   The scripture from Samuel would define our team and approach to this work.  It would be a team of musicians, creative communicators who would lead the way through the arts in worship.  “Missions exist because worship does not!” is John Piper’s call to us.  Our worship would help to fan that flame here, igniting passion for Jesus!

“Creatively connecting with the emerging generation for transformed hearts and changed lives; making intentional, unmistakable followers of Jesus who will embrace their destiny to make Him known.”

Creatively connecting – We constantly seek innovative ways to communicate timeless truths, to lift Jesus up in a dark world.

Emerging generation – 77% of people who come to Christ do so before their 21st birthday.  At a time where the attacks against Jesus from the media are at an unprecedented level, this generation is open to the Gospel.  The battle for their hearts and souls has never been so intense.

Transformed hearts and changed lives – For us, it has always been about transformation.  The journey of faith only begins when our heart opens to truth.  Watching Jesus change lives fuels our hearts and keeps us moving ahead, even in the most challenging times.
