About the Focus

The music elective invites student to explore the connection between music, worship, and spiritual growth within our Fall Discipleship Training School. This elective offers a unique opportunity for individuals to deepen their understanding of the role that music plays in a deeper relationship with God, growing in discipleship, and building a stronger community of believers.

The first part of the school is Lecture Phase where you will be learning more about the Lord and how to use your gifts to preach the Gospel. The second part is the Outreach Phase where you will take what you learned and use it in a full-stage, gospel production called Encounter. We travel across America and minister to people through Encounter as well as through evangelism on the streets. The last 2 weeks of outreach we go to another nation and use a street drama called, doors.

Course Highlights

This course is designed to empower you to grow your relationship with the Lord and use your skills for the kingdom of God. Our goal is to teach you how to use your talents to steward the presence of God, preach the gospel and see people come into relationship with Jesus.

Some key highlights include:

  • Biblical Foundations of Worship Music: Dice into the rich biblical references to music and worship, exploring how music has been used throughout history to praise God, express emotions, and communicate the truth.

  • Musical Skill Development: Enhance musical talents through practical lessons in singing, playing instruments, and leading worship teams, enabling participants to actively contribute to their church's worship experience.

  • Worship Leadership: Gain insights into the role of a worship leader and the responsibilities they hold, learning how to guide congregations into a deeper connection with God through music.

  • Creative Worship: Encourage creative exploration by integrating art forms like visual arts, dance, and poetry into worship, fostering a holistic approach to praising God.

  • Community: Understand the role of music in building a sense of unity and fellowship within the church community, fostering an environment of inclusivity and mutual support.

  • Discipleship through Music: Explore how engaging in worship through music can lead to personal spiritual growth and strengthening your relationship with the Lord.

  • Integration of Worship and Life: Discover how to extend the principles of worship music beyond church gatherings, infusing everyday life with a sense of awe, gratitude, and devotion.

Course Outcome

Throughout this focus, students will not only gain practical musical skills and a deepened understanding of worship theology but will also be encouraged to reflect on their personal story with God. By creating a spirit of collaboration, humility, and reverence, the music focus seeks to empower individuals to become more engaged and impactful worshippers within their communities and to cultivate a lasting connection with God through the transformative power of music.

Phase 2: Outreach

Take Your Art Into The World.
Transform Lives By Displaying The Gospel.

For the outreach phase of the Creative Arts in Worship DTS, you will embark on a 6 week tour across the U.S. with an original production called Encounter. This is a multi-media production that tells the story of God from before Creation through the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. As a student, you get to be a part of putting on this production and see people’s lives transformed by the Gospel message.

Following the 6-week tour, you will also get to experience a 2-week outreach overseas and get to minister to people in another country.
